All too often, financial circumstances put a halt to a student’s plans for academic and career development. Not with the Avenue Scholars Program. In addition to the individualized support provided by Avenue Scholars Career Coaches and Metropolitan Community College (MCC) College Success Navigators, students who successfully complete the high school portion of the program have the opportunity to continue their postsecondary education/training at MCC at little to no cost through the Avenue Scholars Postsecondary Training Grant.
The Grant, which provides up to $8,000 per recipient and is made possible through the generous support of the Suzanne and Walter Scott Foundation and MCC, covers tuition, fees, books, and other training-related expenses at MCC. This support is provided in addition to a student’s Pell Grant assistance, enabling the latter to be used to address other costs associated with college attendance, such as living expenses and technology.
