What is Career Awareness?
The Avenue Scholars Fall Career Awareness program is an annual series of workplace field trips and interactive events designed to help high school Scholars in the Omaha metro area explore high-demand career fields.
This fall, our Scholars will visit local workplaces to explore what a typical day looks like in various positions in healthcare, the skilled trades, transportation, and education.
The overall goal of the Career Awareness program is to help Scholars better understand potential career pathways and what steps they will need to take to pursue those careers. Guided by their Career Coaches, Scholars select field trips aligned with their industry of choice so they can:
- Explore Different Career Fields: Tour local workplaces and see real-world operations in action.
- Build Professional Networks: Connect directly with local employers and fellow Scholars from across the Omaha metro.
- Practice Core Skills: Put classroom communication and professional habits into practice.
“Thank you to our business partners for impacting our Scholars and helping them navigate their future careers,” said Dan Corral, Business Outreach Coordinator, who is organizing this year’s Career Awareness program. “Through these hands-on experiences and industry insights, Scholars discover career paths they are passionate about. Ultimately, this drives a lasting, positive impact across the Omaha community and economy.”
Together with our partners, Avenue Scholars is transforming how young people achieve their career goals.
